TRF Private Equity focuses on growing companies that are beyond the seed or early technology development stage. We target a broad range of both manufacturing and service related businesses, driven by entrepreneurs and management teams that have significant work experience in the markets they serve. In addition to an experience management, we look for companies that have a sound business model, a product or service that is unique and differentiated, and competitive advantages in growing niche markets.
Our target businesses typically have revenues that range from $5 million to $50 million. They are either currently profitable or have mapped out a well defined and credible path to profitability within 12 months.
A sampling of those industries in which we have successfully invested include:
-
Technology /electronic manufacturing,
-
Manufacturing for niche industrial sectors,
-
Consumer products,
-

TRF Private Equity either leads or co-invests with a partner in transactions ranging from $1 million to $10 million in which we invest between $1 million and $4 million. We structure each investment to fit the capital needs and liquidity criteria of the company and offer both preferred equity and subordinated debt investments. Investments are frequently structured in combination with senior debt facilities in order to optimize the cost of capital and minimize dilution to owners. TRF Private Equity typically underwrites its transaction with four to six year exit parameters, usually through a strategic sale or re-capitalization. However, we are sensitive to timing our exit to be consistent with the needs of the business and its other owners. We understand that investing in private companies, is not a formulaic exercise.
Companies deploy the proceeds from our investments for a variety of growth and recapitalization purposes including:
-
Expanding products and services
-
Making an Acquisition
-
Buying out a retiring stockholder
-
Hiring and training workers
-
Securing a large new customer
-
Purchasing equipment
-
Improving productivity
