The managers of TRF Private Equity have had long and successful careers as investors and partners to the businesses in which we invest. Without encroaching on the portfolio company’s day to day operations we work with management to develop cohesive strategic plans and infrastructures appropriate for growing the business. Our focus is to add value by identifying strategies that help sustain and grow the business. We use our own years of experience and that of our extensive network of contacts to provide support. Filling out and strengthening the senior management team. While a complete management team is occasionally in place at the time of our initial investment, it is frequently necessary to make key additions to the existing management team to implement management's growth plans. We have longstanding relationships with several successful management recruiters, as well as extensive capabilities through our human resource team to assist companies in their search for key managers.

Tactical tools for executing a strategic plan. We help management build a foundation of accurate empirical data and operating metrics that facilitate timely and considered business decisions and help form the framework for prioritizing new operating initiatives. These processes help management consider the timing and cost of implementing new systems, adding key staff, expanding production capacity and launching new products.

Building productivity and human capital. Both through TRF’s direct grant funding and grant support available in the public sector we help companies fund programs that develop staff and build worker productivity. For example, we structure training curriculum that expand skills and promote more productive environments. Our human resource management helps each company optimize employee benefits and establish compliant HR policies. In concert with management, we also deliver to entry level employees additional support to assure that they gain access to any public benefits or tax credits to which they may be entitled. We strive to increase each employee’s capacity to enhance their earnings by building financial literacy and improved productivity.

Add-on and de novo expansion opportunities. With extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, we help companies explore the market for add-on acquisitions that will expand their strategies and enhance their competitiveness. We also help businesses analyze the pros and cons of building or expanding organically and assess with management the various sources for financing such expansion in addition to our own capital. We frequently help management source, structure and negotiate both senior debt and or additional equity investments. In this process we are careful to optimize the capital structure so that all ownership can benefit.

Maximizing value at exit. Frequently our investment/management partners choose to sell the business during our investment term to maximize their own personal liquidity. We work closely with management, investment bankers and other advisors to properly time and execute effective exit strategies, optimizing value for all investors.
